Why Fruit Wine
A fruit wine is fermented from the fruit itself, not made by flavouring a grape wine. Celteg fruit wines are 12% ABV and range from dry to sweet, so an elderflower wine can stand in for a crisp white and an elderberry wine for a soft red. Our Ginger Wine and Raspberry Wine have both won Welsh True Taste awards, and the Ginger Wine featured on the BBC's Great British Menu.
Chill the lighter wines such as elderflower, apple and elderflower, and gooseberry. Serve elderberry, blackberry and cherry at room temperature, or mull them in winter with the spice bag that comes with our mulled elderberry wine.
How Our Wine Is Made
Everything is made at the winery in Henllan, Ceredigion. Fresh elderflowers are gathered from the Welsh countryside around us; other fruit is chosen for quality so we can make wine year round. Each wine ferments in 1,000-litre containers for two to four weeks, then rests for six months to mellow before it is bottled.
Recipes have been handed down through the Shipp family since Neal Shipp founded the winery in 1989. Buy online with free delivery over £60, or visit the winery gift shop near Llandysul.
